Remembering Lindsay Southcott AM

The Blackmore Club and the wider St Peter’s College rowing community mourn the loss of Lindsay Southcott AM, who passed away on Easter Sunday.

Lindsay was a towering figure in South Australian rowing, devoting more than 60 years to the sport as a competitor, coach, and leader. From representing South Australia in the King’s Cup straight after finishing school, to guiding a staggering 14 St Peter’s College crews to Head of the River victories, his contribution was nothing short of remarkable.

In 2022, Lindsay was honoured with the title of Member of the Order of Australia for his outstanding service to rowing. A Life Member of the South Australian Rowing Association and former Chairman of Rowing SA, he played a pivotal role in shaping the sport across the state—including helping to develop the West Lakes rowing facilities.

Linday was on the establishment committee of the Blackmore Club and was the first person to be awarded Blackmore Ciub Distinguished Life Membership.

Lindsay was more than a mentor—he was an innovator, a role model, and a true gentleman. His legacy lives on in the generations of athletes, coaches, and volunteers he inspired.

Our deepest condolences go to the Southcott family and to all who were fortunate enough to know Lindsay.
